Pearls & Parties, The Jackie Way

"Pearls are always appropriate."

- Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis

The mix of European and American elegance is what originally influenced Jackie's iconic style. It grew more modern as the years passed but she always maintained that classic chic and timeless look. She was also known for her three strand pearl necklace... which actually had faux pearls! It was said that she originally purchased them from Nordstrom for less than $100. Jackie would wear them to famous dinner parties but also just around the "white" house. In 1996, they were set to be auctioned off at Sotherby's with an estimated sale price of $500-$700, but ended up closing at $211,500!

This just goes to show that great style doesn't care too much about a price tag.
